Vera Trifunovich began her real estate career in 2000, and became a member of the Hudson Place Realty team when Caulfield Real Estate merged with the firm. “I had completed a number of transactions with HPR, and so I had a relationship with the agency,” she explains. “Given HPR’s sterling reputation in the industry, it never occurred to me to go anywhere else.”
Like many agents at Hudson Place, Vera’s professional career started far from real estate. With a degree in drama from NYU, Vera entered the social services sector, working at Bellevue Hospital as a creative arts therapist. “It was a supportive position,” she says, “where we helped the homeless and mentally ill re-enter the community.” The role tapped into Vera’s compassion and tested her ability to understand the needs of others by closely listening to what they are saying and finding creative solutions to their needs – qualities that she feels has been a critical part of her success as a realtor.
Though a born and raised Manhattanite, Vera moved to Hoboken in the late 1980s, believing the town had incredible potential and wanting to be part of its future. In 1991 she gave birth to her son Marc who she raised in the lively atmosphere of a community in change. “Then and now, Hoboken is a great place to live, raise children, and do business, and my goal as an agent is to help others find their place in this vibrant community.”
Her community ties aside, Vera’s attributes her success in real estate to her ability to maintain relationships with clients over many years. “I have a great number of long-standing clients,” she says, “People who bought a one-bedroom starter condo years ago and are now in a 3-bedroom with kids. I’ve been with them every step of the journey, helping them reach the next level of their dream.” How has she managed to earn such loyalty? “Honest, straight-forward advice.”;
Vera is constantly on the go, and her energy and enthusiasm for life’s daily pleasures are sources of inspiration to those who know her. When not working with real estate clients, Vera is engaged as a personal trainer for private clients and with Uplift Studios in NYC, where she inspires her clients to reach their physical goals as a conduit to attaining goals in other aspects of their lives. “Fitness is a big part of my life, and it has helped me to manage stress. It’s great to be able to help other do the same thing, and to see the change it makes in their lives.” Vera is continuing her to challenge herself physically, recently beginning a course of study in karate. “For me it’s about evolving and continuing to push myself into new territory.” It’s a personal philosophy that translates well into the work of a real estate professional.
When not working with clients, Vera and her family enjoy a “barefoot community”” on Fire Island, where they have owned a home for two decades. “There are no stores,” she explains, “or restaurants or bars. It’s a place where we bring our own fun.” Vera’s wide and varied experiences are a great benefit to her clients, who find in her an agent who listens with care and acts with enthusiasm and creativity to help them meet their real estate goals.
